Smt. Gayathri Dharshinee had her early education from Kumaran's School and Mahila Seva Samaj. Later she graduated in Science from NMKRV College, Bangalore. She was the athletic champion for her college and her interest in sports continues. She is a philanthropist who donates liberally to a number of orphanages in Bangalore. Gayathri hails from the renowned Obalappa family in Gandhi Bazaar, Bangalore.
In 2008 her son went to the USA for pursuing his Masters degree.
